Spirometry Testing

Spirometry is a standard test that doctors use to measure how well your lungs are functioning.  The test works by measuring airflow into and out of your lungs.

To take a spirometry test, you sit and breathe into a small machine called a Spirometer. This medical device records the amount of air you breathe in and out and the speed of your breath.

Spirometry Testing at San Tan Cardiovascular Center

At San Tan Cardiovascular Center we perform Spirometry Testing on patients with breathing problems to help diagnose the cause. Spirometry tests are used to diagnose conditions like COPD, asthma and restrictive lung disease (such as interstitial pulmonary fibrosis) and other disorders affecting lung function.

They also allow your doctor to monitor chronic lung conditions to check that your current treatment is improving your breathing.

How do I get started?

Contact San Tan Cardiovascular Center today to make an appointment with one of our healthcare providers.

At this appointment:

  • we will review your medical history, discuss your symptoms and perform a non-invasive, diagnostic test to further determine your medical condition,
  • any pertinent testing that needs to be done beforehand will also be ordered at this time.

Our billing department will then contact your health insurance company to obtain prior authorization.  Upon receiving insurance authorization, the test will be scheduled.
